Healthcare App

This project included the creation of a mobile healthcare app prototype, SafeHealth. This interactive prototype allows users to discreetly search for, learn about, and seek care at various women’s healthcare providers. This prototype underwent two rounds of usability testing, including general usability and A/B testing for a dark and light mode, to create a final revised prototype based on research results.

Prototype

This interactive Figma prototype is the final version of the SafeHealth app. This redesigned prototype is based on both general usability and the A/B testing research that was conducted.

General Usability Testing

After creating the first SafeHealth prototype, we conducted general usability testing that aimed to gather data on both user behavior and feedback regarding the app’s design appeal and navigation ease. These findings resulted in changes to the prototype such as adding enhanced security features, simplifying the appointment creation flow, and increasing text size.

Task Data was gathered by quantitatively measuring user performance metrics including time on task, number of errors, and whether the user succeeded or failed at the task. This method allowed us to analyze ease of navigation using concrete numerical data and cross-reference this data with user feedback for any discrepancies.

User Feedback was gathered by asking both open and closed ended questions in a short interview and pre & post simulation questions. These questions allowed us to empathize with the users, qualitatively measure user feedback, and cross-reference this data with task data collected.

A/B Dark Mode Testing

This report gives an overview of the methods and findings of the second round of usability testing for the SafeHealth App. After refining the app based on the first round of general testing, we created a dark mode version of the app to test its usability. This report’s findings resulted in changing the visual appearance of the final prototype to a dark mode default due users’ enhanced performance metrics and feedback.

Task Data was gathered by quantitatively measuring user performance metrics while using the light and dark mode prototypes. This allowed us to compare the numerical metrics to determine the version that created the most ease of navigation.

User Feedback was gathered by asking both open and closed ended questions in a short interview and pre & post simulation questions for both user groups. This allowed us to cross-reference and compare feedback for the light and dark modes.
